BE PROACTIVE ABOUT PROTECTING LIVES & ASSETS WITH OUR FIRE SAFETY COMPLIANCE CHECK
Issues of non-compliance in South Africa have been brought under the spotlight following recent events in Johannesburg. On Wednesday the 5th of September 2018, three firefighters lost their lives fighting a fire on the 23rd floor of a Johannesburg CBD building. According to the Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development, this building was only 21% compliant with safety regulations and it has since been revealed that a further nine buildings in Johannesburg alone have not achieved even 50% compliance.
This has brought to light the serious implications of non-compliance – moral, financial and legal consequences.
The incidence of fire continues to increase as shown by a recent Fire Protection Publication, which revealed that fire damage in South Africa has increased by 40% in only one year reaching a significant total of R3 Billion.
Being aware of compliance legislation and ever-improving fire prevention technologies, the South African public and private entities should be taking a proactive approach to preventing such occurrences and decreasing these figures.
As our contribution to ensuring compliance and in honour of the three fallen heroes, Firefighter Simphiwe Moropane, Firefighter Mduduzi Ndlovu and Firefighter Kathutshelo Muedi, we will be offering a FREE 30 Point Compliance Check over the next three months, for commercial and industrial organisations throughout South Africa.
The 30 Point Compliance Check is in accordance with SANS 10139:2012 legal industry standard for fire detection and will be carried out by one of our qualified specialists.
