OUR STORY:
1970's
Launch
Split
Only 4 years after the first battery operated smoke detector was developed by Duane Pearsall and Stanley Peterson, a company called Fire Fight was established in the small suburb of Observatory, Cape Town, South Africa by Margerett and Robert Macfarlane.
Two years later, these founders decided to focus on manufacturing their own fire equipment but understood the need in South Africa for integration and installation of these products, so the company was split in two and in 1971, Fire Fight became Ziton and Lintek.
Integration / Installation
Legislation
Ziton branched into manufacturing its own products whilst Lintek focused on the integration and installation in the fire detection and suppression market. Lintek only had 5 employees at that time.
There was no legislation to support fire detection in South Africa however Lintek was one of very few specialists in the Western Cape.
